We are looking for a passionate Senior Product Innovation Engineer (reporting to the Director of Engineering) who is looking to support a world-class digital platform that delights our customers and positively impacts a surgical landscape, empowering surgical communities worldwide. Within the Engineering organization, you will work across all cross-functional stakeholders in the company, and across regions and surgical disciplines to ensure the product delivers on what is best for the surgeon and their patients.


  • Informs product requirements based on a clear understanding of the customer needs, infrastructure, and equipment interdependencies.
  • Inform opportunities to optimize the user journey to serve as a key input to product strategy and roadmap, and to increase product value.
  • Supports product and engineering teams through the entire development lifecycles from concept to pilot evaluations. Inform and support new product implementations across the U.S.
  • Collaborate and influence across all cross-functional stakeholders including clinical, product management, user experience, engineering, compliance, regulatory, operations, and executive leadership.
  • Create design inputs, technical specifications, risk management, and verification & validation plans/reports. Maintain engineering documentation for product/process changes.
  • Execute design verification & validation activities, including formal testing, dry running, and feasibility.
  • Lead testing for investigations/root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend system modifications.
  • Interface with vendors to customize products for Proximie’s needs.
  • Educate physicians and hospital personnel on Proximie system use
  • Work collaboratively in a team or work independently on projects
  • Visit customer and vendor site locations and ship pilot kits to sites
  • Execute on key strategic initiatives for the company


  • BSc Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Biomedical) or similar
  • 5+ years experience in a product development or Information Technology.
  • Demonstrated experience with full product development cycle in a structured/stage-gate product development process
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance to ISO 13485 and 21CFR820
  • Experience in IT troubleshooting and network protocols
  • Experience in Desktop, Web and Mobile software troubleshooting
  • Experience in media hardware and software such as Webcams, IP cameras,
    media encoders, AV converters, Bluetooth headsets, etc.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Data-informed problem solving with excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced start-up company. Hands-on mentality with a desire to build things, find solutions, and learn new skills.
  • Experience in vendor management
  • Communicating technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Products


  • Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 14971, 21CFR820 standards and regulations
  • Awareness of process and compliance certifications such as ITIL, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, etc
  • Experience supporting medical systems in the Operating Room
  • Ability to work with CAD software
  • Experience working with macOS, Windows OS, and mobile platforms
  • Can speak a second language fluently such as Spanish, German, Mandarin, etc.
  • Estimated Traveling within the United States (30%)
