Global Health Initiative

Improving equitable access to surgical care around the globe.

Creating a sustainable impact on global health has been part of Proximie’s DNA from day one. Our Global Health Initiative is a crucial aspect of delivering on that mission. In collaboration with a range of partners, we’re improving health outcomes by deploying technology together with a robust change management process, to enable top-tier surgical training, mentorship, and quality improvement where the needs are greatest.

Surgery is a core component of global health.

Surgery can no longer be neglected. Enabling local health systems to provide safe, timely, and affordable surgical interventions is essential to achieving universal health coverage.

Impact begins with collaboration.

To improve health outcomes at global scale, we are committed to collaborating fully with health systems and the communities they serve to learn with and from each other..

Public-private partnerships are critical for innovation.

We work in partnership with governments, health ministries, development agencies, academic institutions, philanthropies, and the local private sector to scale their efforts and accelerate their impact.

Purpose-fit technology

Our platform is built for implementation in low bandwidth areas—from field tents to remote district hospitals—using off-the-shelf hardware. It enables health providers to share expertise from anywhere through powerful telepresence and collaboration tools.

Co-designed interventions

We are advocates for long-term, locally based engagement models. We collaborate with a range of partners to co-design technology interventions that address the challenges faced by local health systems.

Adaptive learning

The ability to course correct is central to innovation. We promote a culture of adaptive learning to guide the scale-up and spread of our technology. For every initiative, we measure evidence of our impact and identify the best practices to share globally.

We’re impacting families and communities around the world.

Since our first initiative in Kenya in 2020, we’ve proven our contribution to building the capacity of the surgical health workforce with the aim to improve surgical quality, and reduce the societal cost and economic impact as an outcome of poor surgical care. A significant ROI of our technology has been demonstrated by increased health system efficiencies.
