Proximie is a UK-headquartered healthtech company that has built a platform aimed at improving the way surgery is done and the way operating rooms (ORs) function.

In the first few years of the company’s existence, it was essentially a telehealth platform for surgeons, helping them collaborate, guide and educate one another across the world via a video connection. But since HBI last interviewed Proximie’s CEO and founder Nadine Hachach-Haram in 2023, it’s been transformed into a super-high-tech platform that uses ambient data capture and AI to optimise OR workflows and improve surgery outcomes.

“We always said we wanted to be the intelligent operating system of ORs; this is the vision we set out in our original investor decks when we were starting out. But 10 years ago hospitals weren’t ready for that, so we had to find the early wedges that could get healthcare workers excited about what a digital OR could look like. The category didn’t exist before,” Hachach-Haram says.
