In this first instalment of Surgery Dissected, a new series brought to you by Proximie, the technology platform saving lives by sharing the world’s best clinical practice, a collective of surgical experts and thought leaders, take a closer look at the remarkable story of former Royal Marine, Dr. Jim Ashworth-Beaumont, a prosthetics expert who was left with one arm after a horror cycling accident.
The 55-year-old had his arm severed and he nearly died when he was dragged under a 40-tonne lorry while training for a triathlon last July. Jim is currently trying to get a pioneering new limb to carry on helping other amputees.
This immersive MDT discussion will take a deep-dive into the complexities of the Robotic Arm Osseointegration procedure, that is required to attach a fully functional bionic prosthesis to Jim’s arm.
Recorded in Florida, host Joe Mullings, Chairman and CEO of The Mullings Group, will be joined by Dr Nadine Hachach-Haram FRCS (Plast), BEM, the Founder and CEO of Proximie, and Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Clinical Innovation Lead, at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
